If you’re looking for the warmth and comfort of a home away from home, then the Golden Owl Lodge is a great place to start. Nestled in the Karangahake Gorge just five minutes from the town of Paeroa, the Golden Owl Lodge offers spacious rooms, an inviting kitchen and lounge area, with book exchange, board games and puzzles, TV, and in winter a lovely fire and an overall friendly atmosphere.
John and Judy, your hosts welcome you to this little piece of New Zealand paradise. The Ohinemuri River runs through the gorge, which is located just across the road from the lodge. You will find plenty of good fishing and day hikes in the area, and at night you can explore the thousands of glow-worms in the bush and old mining tunnels along the river. There is also a winery up the road and a lovely café just opposite.
We have a fully equipped kitchen, internet access, BBQ, laundry facilities, off-street parking, and tea, coffee, milk, sugar, and Milo is provided. We also have frozen meals available for purchase. A bit more that 5 months ago I hoped to be back at this place. Here I am again after a great time on my bike . All the way to Bluff and back. This place here for sure is one of the best in NZ. I think I saw enough places to compare. I hope you will keep up the good work and that many travellers can enjoy the great hospitality of you! Thanks again for having me as a guest the 2nd time.
