The base of Mt Hutt is only a 10 minute drive away and within 5 minutes walk are legendary pubs - The Blue Pub and Brown Pub, an art house `Cinema Paradiso`, fine dining restaurants, cafes, shops, Visitor Centre, supermarkets, ski and snowboard shops and a gym. Massage therapist across the road.
Loads of activities nearby include skiing, snowboarding, hot air ballooning, Adventure Argo rides, jet boating, Lord of the Rings tours, tandem skydiving, hiking, golf, rafting, fishing, hunting, mountain biking, and horse-riding.
Pinedale and Methven is an easy 1 hour drive from Christchurch International Airport. 2.5 hours drive to stunning Lake Tekapo, 3.5 hours drive to Dunedin, 5 hours to Wanaka, 5.5 hours to Queenstown.

"My daughter and I loved our stay in the Apartment and the hospitality shown to us by Penny and her husband Tim. The Apartment was spacious, clean and modern. Right in the centre of Methven. If you were going skiing up Mt Hutt, a bus would pick you up out the front."

The blackboard with details such as skiing conditions (posted 6.45am) was very useful, and the tip about seeing the sheep-shearing contest was great!
