This lovely modern, comfortable and well-equipped cottage is centrally located in a very peaceful cul-de-sac, away from the crowds and yet close to everything there is to do and see in Tairua . Ideal for two couples wanting a quiet, relaxing break with everything at hand. No need to use your car, as just a five minute leisurely stroll brings you to a great selection of shops and amenities Supermarket open 7 days a week, a well-stocked Pharmacy open Monday through Saturday, gift shops, clothes shops, a book shop and a local wine store, galleries and a Video/DVD store/Petrol Station and service garage/Day Spa and beauty salon/Library with Internet access to name a few. There are, of course, also several great cafes/restaurants/wine bars/takeaways. The Cow Shed, our very local restaurant, is only 150 metres from the Cottage (great steaks) but the Landing, Mania and the upmarket Shells restaurant are also all close by. The first Saturday of the month is Market Day at the Tairua Community Centre (9am-1pm). There is a Farmers′ Market held every Sunday in season up the road at Coroglen, that is well worth the twenty minutes drive there. The stunning Ocean Beach, with its great surfing and swimming, is only 1 km away or, if you prefer to swim in quieter flat water, Tairua Harbour is less than 5 minutes walk, with great swimming holes located at the stream end of the estuary. There is an 18 hole golf course 400 m away with bowling and croquet greens at the same location. For the more energetic, public tennis courts are also nearby. There is, of course, excellent fishing and diving close by and also all around the Coromandel Peninsula. Explore the many walkways that Tairua has to offer or, in the summer, hop on the ferry to Pauanui′s beautiful beach. A climb (or drive) to the top of Mount Paku offers incredible Coromandel views. Catering for up to 4 adults, the Cottage has a queen-bedded and a twin-bedded room, with large built-in wardrobes and shelves, both rooms overlook the quiet secluded rear garden. The open-plan kitchen/dining/living area flows out to the sunny deck with BBQ and the delightful gardens. There is a 27” TV with Satellite Freeview receiver and a DVD player, and a small library and games should the weather become inclement. The kitchen is fully equipped with an electric stove with a four ring ceramic top, a separate wall oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster etc… The bathroom has both a walk-in shower and a bath and there is a separate toilet. There is also a washing machine in the garage accessible from the kitchen. Due to its central location, you can use Tairua as your base to explore the scenic wonders of the Coromandel Peninsula. You can explore the coastline north and south, to the numerous sandy beaches and hidden coves that make the peninsula so unique, from native bush trails through kauri and fern forests, to boat charters to nearby islands. Make your own spa pool in the sand at Hot Water Beach, or visit Cathedral Cove and Cooks Beach. As the Cottage is located in an area populated by mostly retired folk, it is not really suitable for children. We are in an ideal relaxing location, conveniently situated in a central position for three of the Rugby World Cup venues... Just two hours from Eden Park in Auckland, one and a half hours from Rotorua and one hour forty minutes from Hamilton. Visitors are requested to clean up and leave the cottage as found. There is an optional cleaning service available for $45.
